alwitra configurator: BIM-capable product data for digital construction

For almost two years now, flat roof pioneer alwitra GmbH has been providing its customers with an individual online product configurator. Thanks to the configurator, architects and specialist planners have access to individually defined data that can be imported precisely into numerous CAD systems.

At the beginning of 2016, KiM developed a product configurator for the Rhineland-Palatinate-based innovation leader for flat roof systems, alwitra GmbH. With the help of CADClick® technology, the Trier-based company provides architects and planners with BIM-capable data for digital construction. Using the configurator, every product available from alwitra can be configured precisely to the individual application and building requirements and then downloaded as a CAD model and as a 3D PDF data sheet.

Thanks to the intuitive user guidance, the product configurator is quick and easy to use. Individually compiled, specialist planners and architects receive all relevant digital information in just a few steps. The configuration is based on the manufacturer’s instructions and the applicable regulations. The plausibility check automatically corrects invalid combinations and only verified configurations can be created.

The advantage of CADClick® technology is that the components only need to be modeled once and enriched with attributes. The transfer to the customer’s CAD/BIM systems takes place via export or direct insertion drivers. In addition to the numerous standard output formats and CAD direct insertion drivers, users also have Revit plug-ins and the IFC export format at their disposal.

In the password-protected area, which is only available to registered users, the roof structure configurator can be used to put together a roof structure that complies with regulations in just three steps. The Adhesive Navigator suggests relevant adhesive combinations for the flat roof project by entering just a few basic details. CADClick® therefore guarantees fast and automated generation and provision of planning data. 3D geometries, 2D planning drawings and descriptive attributes for BIM systems are generated.

The aim is to provide architects and planners with individually configurable digital information and to offer them suitable solutions on the way to the digital future of construction.
